Their First Time

Playful teasing. That’s how it began. Then flirting. Like grade schoolers. The boy that pulls the girl’s hair and runs away. The girl that pushes that boy on the playground. Then high school. Him to her “Do you ever shut the F-ck up?” Her to him “Get out of here. You stink like gas. Don’t you have a truck to fix?”

She was right. He wasn’t supposed to be hanging around the office. Not unless he was working at his desk, which on rare occasion he did. Mostly he just surfed the internet for hot rods he dreamed of buying and tricked out bikes he dreamed of riding. She didn’t understand why he wasted all that time looking. He could build one ten times better if he just put his mind to it.

She didn’t want him to stay away. She didn’t mind the smell. To her it was intoxicating. Gas and exhaust. Dirt and sweat. Cigars. And him. She could feel his presence the second he stepped foot in the door. Sometimes before. She craved it like oxygen.

She knew when he was behind her without turning around. Before he even spoke. Before he tugged her hair, placed a hand softly on her head. He could tell with one look when she was having a bad day. A sleepless night. A project behind schedule. Somehow he knew his touch made her feel better, though she never said it. She didn’t want to admit she was struggling.

He could see right through her. Lately those little shows of affection did more than calm her nerves or push away her tears. They quickened her pulse. Changed her breathing. He knew. And it fed him.

A hand on her shoulder, her waist. Standing too close. Closer. Pressed against her. She tensed, surprised. He walked to his desk and sat down. “That was my cell phone.” “Good. I was disappointed”, she shot back trying her hardest to hide the change in her voice. The teenagers at play again.

“Come over here.” She walked to where he was sitting. Expecting him to need help with a purchase order or some other office item. Intelligent and talented as he was, he never graduated high school. Book learning was never his thing. He turned his chair towards her and smiled with a mischievous smile. She replied with a coy smile of her own, and by moving closer. Until his knee was just between her legs.

She stood there. Looking him straight in the eyes, daring him to make a move. He put his hand just below her knee. Moved it up under her dress. A little higher. Now to her thigh. She took a step back. “Chicken.” “Oh, really?”

She moved back to her position in front of him. A little closer this time. He started just above her knee. Slightly up her thigh. Barely touching her. She kept her gaze locked with his. Not moving an inch as he continued. He stopped. “Now who’s chicken.” She went back to her desk.

She felt him behind her. He didn’t speak a word. Just pulled her back over to his corner of the dirty office. Before she could think he pulled her to him and kissed her. She felt it in every cell of her body. To her very core. He kissed her neck. His hands holding her as if to keep her from getting away.

She stopped and stepped away. “We can’t. What about her”. “So what?”. He grabbed her and started again. Kissing harder this time. Again she pulled away. “Now what?” “I don’t want to.” “Oh yeah? It doesn’t feel that way.” He looked at her, and there was that smile. He pulled her to him again. Holding on to her tighter this time. She started to pull away. Not this time. He wasn’t going to let her.

She didn’t say a word. Because she did want to. Only she was afraid. She wasn’t sure she could handle him. His gruffness. His strength. His rawness. What if he was more than she could take? Would she end up broken?

He overtook her. They were like two starved animals finally thrown a meal. She was surprised at how well she stood up to his strength. He was as rough as he looked. Yet there was something gentle in the touch of his hands, the way he pressed against her, the softness in his breath. It was their first time together, but he knew just where to touch. Just how soft, or how hard, to press.

They barely made a sound. Hardly anything was disturbed. Yet it seemed as though the universe was exploding. It was over in a matter of moments. A good thing. Any longer and they risked being consumed in the fire of their passion.

They went about their work as if it never happened. Not a word was said about it. Only glances. Smiles. Touches. Interspersed with moments of violent passion.

And that is how it continued. Until one day it simply came to an end.
